Investment Officer/Investment Manager

Job Title: Investment Officer/Investment Manager
Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Job Description:
  • Senior management position considered to be key to the future success of the Fund;

  • Identifying potential companies for the Fund’s investment;

  • Performing comprehensive appraisals of potential investments including evaluating the industry and market, the quality of company management, product differentiation, identifying risks associated with the investment and projecting the future performance of the company and the Fund’s investment in the company;

  • Executing investments, including conducting due diligence to verify the company’s operations and business plan, facilitating legal and financial due diligence, including assisting potential investee companies to complete a financial audit, deal structuring and negotiating legal documentation of investments;

  • Working closely with investee companies to help them identify opportunities for their improvement and then assisting in the development and implementation of a post-investment support plan for the companies;

  • Reporting directly to managing director and performing other tasks as determined by the senior management.

Required Skills/Experience:
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience. Relevant work experience includes, but is not limited to, work at investment funds, banks, international accounting firms, foreign companies or international organizations – particularly in the following positions: Investment Officer, Investment Manager, Program Officer, Credit Officer, Finance/Investment Consultant, Audit Senior, or other senior positions in business management;

  • Impressive career achievements and good recommendations from references;

  • Significant levels of responsibility at previous employers;

  • Dynamic, energetic, flexible, resourceful with ability to learn quickly, work independently and solve problems creatively;

  • Good analytical, presentation, relationship-building and communication skills;

  • Strong project management skills and experience managing others to complete a task as a team;

  • Financial analysis skills, including modeling in Microsoft Excel;

  • Excellent fluent spoken and written Vietnamese and English;

  • Established network of contacts in the market is a plus;

  • Experience living abroad, overseas education or a previous position in a foreign company is a plus but not a requirement;

Education Required: Minimum undergraduate degree from a reputable university, by preference, in finance, accounting, business, economics or related fields.

Finance Manager
Job Title: Finance Manager
Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Job Description: The Finance Manager will be employed by the Fund to assist the Fund’s portfolio companies in:

  • Developing, analyzing and interpreting statistical and accounting information in order to appraise the operating results of the portfolio companies in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness;

  • Evaluating and recommending improvements in the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department of the companies including setting training requirements and recommending that personnel be hired or removed from the Department;

  • Maintaining the systems of accounts for the Fund’s portfolio companies, as well as keeping the books and records on all company transactions and assets;

  • Working with management of the portfolio companies to establish major economic objectives and policies for the portfolio companies and preparing reports that outline the companies’ financial positions in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations;

  • Coordinating and directing the preparation of the portfolio companies’ budgets and financial forecasts, instituting and maintaining other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzing and reporting variances;

  • Assisting the portfolio companies in tax planning and compliance with all national, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes;

  • Internal reporting for the portfolio companies, including revising and updating reports to be more useful and efficient and also generating external reports as necessary;

  • Determining depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advising the management of the portfolio companies on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions;

  • Evaluating and recommending insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities;

  • Providing for the effective implementation of financial controls at the portfolio companies

Additionally, the Financial Manager will have responsibilities at the Fund-level including:

  • Assisting the senior management of the Fund in making its investment decisions by evaluating the financial soundness of companies in which the Fund is considering investing;

  • Supervising the reporting of the portfolio companies quarterly and annual financial results to the senior management of the Fund, SEAF headquarters in Washington, DC and the Fund’s investors;

  • Building and supervising the financial oversight competency at the Fund including improved bookkeeping and reporting procedures;

  • Additional projects as determined by senior management of the Fund

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Senior management positions with impressive career achievements in Finance, Accounting or Audit as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Accountant, Senior Auditor or similar level of responsibility;

  • Demonstrated financial analysis and accounting skills;

  • Ability to add value to the financial departments of the Fund’s portfolio companies by establishing close working relationships with the managers of the portfolio companies and providing valued expertise;

  • Strong understanding of and relationship with the private sector in Vietnam;

  • Fluency in Vietnamese and English (written and spoken);

  • Ability to learn quickly and solve problems creatively.
